Viagra Introduction:
Viagra is a medication for treating ED, produced by Pfizer. In 1998, Pfizer launched Sildenafil Citrate (Viagra), which successfully gained the trust and purchases of a wide range of customers. According to statistics, four Viagra pills are taken by patients every second worldwide, and its efficacy and effects have been fully verified. It is one of the most effective medications for improving sexual dysfunction!
How Viagra Works:
The Sildenafil ingredient is rapidly absorbed after oral administration, with an absolute bioavailability of about 40%. Its pharmacokinetic parameters are dose-proportional within the recommended dose range. Elimination is primarily through hepatic metabolism (via the cytochrome P450 3A4 isoenzyme pathway), producing an active metabolite with properties similar to Sildenafil. Co-administration of Sildenafil with potent inhibitors of CYP3A4 (such as erythromycin, ketoconazole, itraconazole) or non-specific inhibitors of cytochrome P450 (such as cimetidine) may lead to elevated plasma levels of Sildenafil. The elimination half-life of Sildenafil and its metabolite is about 4 hours. When taken on an empty stomach at doses of 25–100 mg, maximum plasma concentration is reached within about 1 hour (taking it one hour in advance provides the best effect).
Viagra Dosage and Side Effects:
For most patients, the recommended dose is 50 mg (half a tablet), taken about 1 hour before sexual activity; however, it can be taken anytime from 0.5 to 4 hours before sexual activity. Based on efficacy and tolerability, the dose can be increased to 100 mg (one tablet is the maximum recommended dose) or decreased to 25 mg (1/4 tablet), with a maximum of one dose per day. 【Adverse Reactions】 Mild dizziness, flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion, and visual abnormalities, etc.; visual abnormalities are mild and transient, mainly presenting as a bluish tinge to vision, increased light sensitivity, or blurred vision (these mild adverse reactions quickly disappear as the drug is metabolized and cause no harm to the body).
Precautions for Using Viagra:
1. The interaction between Sildenafil and nitrates on blood pressure can persist from the start of administration throughout the entire 6-hour observation period. Therefore, concurrent use of Sildenafil with organic nitrates or NO donors (such as sodium nitroprusside) is contraindicated under any circumstances.
2. If food is consumed, especially fatty foods, it may take up to 1 hour for the Viagra to be absorbed and take effect.
3. After taking the medication, sexual stimulation such as foreplay or hugging is necessary to achieve an erection. If sexual stimulation ceases, the erection will subside. The effect can last up to 4 hours, and without sexual stimulation, prolonged erections will not occur. Viagra does not enhance libido or sexual function.
